The Role & Expectations
As an early education and childcare proprietor, you run a nursery, preschool or childcare setting where young children spend their days. You make sure the place is safe, fun, and helps children learn through play. You manage staff, plan the activities and education the children get, and check that everything follows government rules.
Day to day, you will do a mix of things. You might interview people to join your team, watch over the children and staff, plan learning activities that match what children of different ages need to learn, and talk to parents about how their child is getting on. You also deal with the practical side - buying food and supplies, keeping records, and making sure the building is safe and clean.
