The Role & Expectations
As a production manager or director in mining and energy, you run the team that extracts coal, oil, gas or metals from the ground. Your job is to plan what happens each day, watch over the work, and make sure everything runs smoothly and safely. It is big responsibility work - the whole team depends on you to guide them.
Your day involves checking schedules, talking to different teams, and solving problems when something goes wrong. You will look at numbers and data to spot ways to work faster or use fewer resources. You will also make sure your team follows all the safety rules and meets the laws about protecting the environment. The work can be challenging - mining and energy work can be dangerous - but good planning and teamwork make it safer. You will need to think clearly, stay calm under pressure, and keep safety as your top priority.
