The Role & Expectations
As a socio-political researcher, you study society, communities and politics to understand how they work and what people need. Your work involves designing surveys or interviews, sometimes running focus groups where you gather a group of people to talk about an issue, then carefully analysing all the information you collect. You look for patterns and connections, work out what the data is really telling you, and write reports explaining what you have found. These reports go to policymakers, campaigners and public bodies who want to understand communities better and make better decisions. It is research that genuinely helps change things for the better - whether that is improving schools, health services, or community support.
Daily Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on socio-political issues.
- Analyze data trends and compile reports that inform policy recommendations.
