Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Officer
As a Junior Officer, you will undergo initial training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where you will learn the fundamentals of leadership, military tactics, and operational planning.
Captain
In the mid-career stage, you will take on greater responsibilities, leading larger teams and managing complex operations, while continuing to develop your leadership skills.
Major/Colonel
At the peak of your career, you will be responsible for strategic decision-making and high-level command, influencing military operations and policy.
