Bailiff

Bailiffs enforce court orders to collect money that people owe. It's a job in the legal system that involves visiting people, negotiating payment plans, and keeping records of what happens.

The Role & Expectations

As a Bailiff (also called an Enforcement Agent), you help people and companies pay debts they owe under court orders. You visit properties, talk to people about their money problems, and work out ways they can pay back what they owe.

Your job is to be fair and firm. Many people you visit are worried about their debts or angry about the situation, so you need to stay calm, listen, and treat them with respect. You'll explain what the court has ordered, answer their questions, and often help them find a payment plan that they can actually afford. You visit different properties, sometimes in rough areas, so you need to be aware of your own safety and follow procedures carefully. You keep detailed records of everything you do and say - this matters for the law and so there's a clear record. You follow strict rules about how you do your job; breaking them could get you in legal trouble. It's work that helps people sort out their debts, even though it's often uncomfortable for everyone involved.
