Financial Analyst

Financial analysts look at money and numbers to help companies and investors make good decisions. They study accounts, markets, and trends to spot where to invest money and where there might be risks.

The Role & Expectations

As a financial analyst, you spend your time reading financial reports and spotting patterns in the numbers. You might look at how much a company has earned, what it spent, and what it might earn next. You then write reports and tell business leaders what you've found so they can decide where to put their money.

Most of your day is spent in an office using computer software to look at data and build spreadsheets. You work with other finance staff and managers, asking them questions to understand what they need to know. You point out the good opportunities and the risks, and explain your findings in a way that makes sense to people who aren't experts in numbers.
