The UK Degree Advantage
A UK degree in complementary therapies, psychology, or health sciences can provide a strong foundation for aspiring Reiki healers. It not only enhances your understanding of human anatomy and psychology but also demonstrates your commitment to professional standards, making you more attractive to clients and employers alike.
The Role & Expectations
As a reiki healer, you work with people one-to-one to help them feel calmer and less stressed. You use a simple technique: you place your hands on or just above the person's body, and they lie quietly while you guide healing energy. Most people say they feel very relaxed during a session, and many feel better afterwards - less anxious, less pain, or better sleep.
You usually work in a quiet room, maybe with soft music and candles. Each client comes with different needs - someone might be dealing with worry, another with a long-term illness or grief. You listen to them, then do a reiki session, and you might suggest they try meditation or relaxation at home too. There isn't scientific proof that reiki works, but lots of people find it helpful. You need to be calm, caring, and good at making people feel safe. Many healers work part-time or run their own small practice, so you get freedom over your schedule.
