The UK Degree Advantage
A UK degree in nursing is highly regarded globally, particularly in the healthcare sector. It equips you with a comprehensive understanding of patient care, advanced medical practices, and critical thinking skills that are essential in the fast-paced environment of the operating theatre. This educational background gives you a competitive edge over local graduates in many countries.
The Role & Expectations
As a theatre nurse, you are part of the surgical team in an operating room. Before surgery starts, you prepare everything - checking that all the instruments are clean and laying them out. During surgery, you hand the surgeon what they need and watch the patient carefully to spot any problems.
The work is fast and you must concentrate hard because one mistake can matter. You work with surgeons, anaesthetists and other nurses and need to know what they need before they ask. After surgery you help move the patient safely and make sure the theatre is cleaned and ready for the next operation.
